The construction of stadiums and gymnasiums for the 17th Pacific Games by China won praise from athletes around the world

On November 19, the 17th Pacific Games officially opened in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands. More than 5,000 athletes from 24 countries and regions in the South Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, will compete in more than 340 events in more than 20 sports over nearly two weeks.

The Pacific Games, held every four years, are the biggest sporting event in the South Pacific and the first time the Solomon Islands have hosted a sporting event of this scale since independence in 1978. China-built stadiums praised by athletes from all over the world

 

In addition to the opening ceremony in the National stadium built by China in Solomon Islands, the main events of this year's Pacific Games will also be held in the stadiums built by China. Athletes from all over the world are full of praise for these stadiums.

The sports stadium projects assisted by China include the national stadium, aquatic center, tennis center, hockey field and other competition venues, as well as comprehensive places such as catering service center and multi-function hall. Before the official competition, the aquatics Center receives athletes from various countries and regions to train and warm up every day.

Construction of the China-assisted Solomon Islands stadium project began in May 2021 and was officially delivered in August this year. After the conclusion of the Pacific Games, these stadiums will still provide excellent training and competition venues for Solomon Islands athletes.
